Why write Poetry.
1 . It’s fun .
Of all the items God has given to mankind for his diversion the English language must come high in the list of the most diverting. Words are our toys and can be the source of endless amusement.
2. It’s creative
God in making people in His own image has seemingly placed a great penchant for making things into the heart of humanity. Not all of us have the manipulative skill to take a piece of wood. metal or stone and transform it into something beautiful. Other activities exist that satisfy our creative urges and poetry is among them.
3. It’s expressive
Some of us find ourselves wrapt in emotions or subjected to experiences for which prose will not do. It is too flat and we discover the need to express ourselves using the disciplines of rhythm and beauty, poetry.
4. It’s Explorative
By subjecting our thoughts to rhyme and rhythm we find ourselves expressing thoughts we did not know we had. We enter the unknown country that is our own soul. Sometimes we go further and we enter a realm we never explored before, the metaphysical.
